Saqib Saleem talks about the viral debate around veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah, says it is unfair to ask him about something senior actor said, on the sidelines of Rangbaaz special screening here in Mumbai.
Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah doesn’t believe in mincing his words and this is the main reason why he ends up receiving a lot of flak. Recently, he landed himself at the center of a major controversy over his remarks on the spate of mob lynching cases in the country following the killing of a policeman in Bulandshahr earlier this month.
When asked about his reaction to the whole issues, Saqib Saleem raised some fair points, he said, “Yesterday, I said there is no water in my tap, now would you go and ask someone else’s point of view on it? I am sure you won’t ask. I think Naseeruddin Shah (Nasser bhai) have said it, and he must have thought of something and said it, it’s his point of view and we should leave it at that”
“Now if you go around asking my point of view on his point of view and then ask other people about their point of view on our point of view, this is endless. I think you should be responsible as a journalist that you should quote someone out of context. I don’t know where Naseer Sahab was at that time and what was asked from him and what he replied”
“Now you would say some statement claiming that Nasser Sahab said this and want me to react on it…I think it is very unfair to me and Nasser Sahab as well”
The new crime web series – Rangbaaz – is based on the story of the short-lived rise of the infamous Uttar Pradesh criminal Prakash Shukla. It stars Aahana Kumra, Saqib Saleem and Kubra Sait in the lead roles.
