Filmmaker Omung Kumar who is gearing up for the release of PM Narendra Modi biopic says he was the right person to direct the film and wasn’t influenced by anyone.
After the film suffered through some controversies and stay orders, the film has been postponed. During a promotional interview on Thursday the filmmaker Omung Kumar said, the film’s new release date will be announced soon.
Asked if he received any feedback from the Prime Minister himself Omung said, “No. Not at all, I am a neutral person I am not into politics that’s why I am the right person to make this film. And it so happens that I wasn’t influenced by anyone. I am making a film about a person’s inspiring story. There was no input of any kind by anyone for the film. It is an open book, everyone is writing about him also so, I learned and grew and figured out a way about how his life would be.
Starring Vivek Oberoi in the lead role as Modi, the film ‘PM Narendra Modi’ will traverse the journey of Narendra Modi from his humble beginnings as a chai walla to becoming the Prime Minister of India.
Talking about the response the film’s trailer and songs have gathered in last few weeks, Kumar said, “Before the trailer came out everyone was wondering what are these guys making and finally when the trailer was out they saw drama, action, inspiration everything. There were some mixed reviews but good reviews also and everyone loved it.”
“It is a larger than life figure we are making a film on so obviously it is going to be huge and we didn’t disappoint people. People didn’t expect that the film will be made on a vast scale and that’s what we are giving them,” he added.
Produced by Suresh Oberoi and Anand Pandit, the film was supposed to release on 5th April but has been postponed indefinitely for now.
