Director Todd Phillips has confirmed on social media that the principal shooting of his next directorial, Joker, has come to a close. Starring Joaquin Phoenix in the titular role, the film will go into post-production now and hit the screens on October 4, 2019.
The film, which traces the origin of the Clown Prince of Crime right from his pre-Joker days as Arthur Fleck, was majorly shot in Brooklyn, The Bronx, and New Jersey.
Joker has a stellar star cast including the likes of Zazie Beetz as Sophie Dumond, a single mother befriended by Fleck, Robert De Niro as a talk show host, Brett Cullen as Thomas Wayne. Marc Maron, Frances Conroy, Shea Wingham, and Bill Camp are also part of the cast.
This is the Hangover director’s first film since 2016’s War Dogs and is produced by Philipps and Bradley Cooper under their Joint Effort Production company, alongside Emma Tillinger Koskoff.
