It was in poor taste; Kher slams Vivek Oberoi over his exit poll meme remark

Actor Anupam Kher has slammed actor Vivek Oberoi for his disrespectful meme remark towards actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan by saying that it was in poor taste.

Anupam Kher was interacting with the media at the trailer launch of ‘One Day: Justice Delivered’ along with his co-actor Esha Gupta, director Ashok Nanda and producers Ketan Patel and Swati Singh on Tuesday in Mumbai.

Actor Vivek Oberoi today deleted his tweet sharing an offensive meme on exit polls featuring actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and posted his apologies, hours after a display of defiance.

The meme featured photos of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan with actor Salman Khan, with Vivek Oberoi and with her husband Abhishek Bachchan and daughter Aaradhya. The pictures were captioned “opinion polls”, “exit polls” and “results”.

Within minutes, Twitter skewered the actor, who also captioned his post saying: “Haha! creative! No politics here…just life.”

Reacting on the controversy, Kher said, “It was very shameful. It’s as simple as that. He should not have done that. It’s absolutely not cool to do that and it was in poor taste.’
Adding to Anupam Kher’s statement, Esha Gupta said, “It just shows your mentality especially when you are getting a minor involved. I think it’s not in good taste at all. It just shows how he (Vivek Oberoi) is and it doesn’t reflect what others are.”

Vivek Oberoi was shredded for sharing the meme and was also served notices from the National Commission and the Maharashtra State Commission for Women.
Most exit polls Sunday forecast another term for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with some of them projecting that BJP-led NDA will get more than 300 seats to comfortably cross the majority mark of 272 in the LokSabha.
When asked Kher what are his expectations from the next government, he said, “We always used to dream that one day we will have a corruption free government. One day we will have a Prime Minister who will only talk about development of the country and there will be a day when we don’t have to bribe for the admission of our children in schools and colleges and I think that days have come. I think they are doing a great job.”He added, “Recently, I went to do campaigning for Kirron (Kirron kher) in Chandigarh and over there, I realized that younger generation do not believe in cast discrimination or wealth discrimination. They are only thinking about taking India to another level and that is what we need to expect and that’s what going to happen.”‘One Day: Justice Delivered’ is a crime thriller film produced by Ketan Patel and Swati Singh, written by Alaukik Rahi and directed by Ashok Nanda. The film features Anupam Kher, Esha Gupta, Kumud Mishra and Anusmriti Sarkar in lead roles.

‘One Day: Justice Delivered’ is scheduled to release in cinemas on 14th June, 2019.
