by priya

Karan Oberoi earlier was arrested on charges of raping and blackmailing a woman now has been granted bail by Bombay High Court. The television actor and Singer was arrested on May 6 after an astrologer, registered an FIR with the police accusing him of rape and blackmail on the pretext of marriage.

After a month of his arrest, he was granted a Rs 50,000 bail. His lawyer Dinesh Tiwari revealed, Justice Revati Mohite-Dere came down heavily on the victim and police in the matter. In the bail plea, Tiwari contended that the FIR was false, his client (Oberoi) never promised to marry the victim, and the victim lodged another FIR by staging an attack to deny him bail.

Post-arrest Karan’s friends had stepped forward with evidence and support claiming he is innocent and the allegations are baseless. Actress Pooja Bedi also started a #MenToo tag on social media and requested fans to show support the actor since such cases are very much a reality where women misuse the laws in their favor. Friend Sudhanshu Pandey, a former member of A Band of Boys called him as the most chivalrous among the team and said he does not believe in the allegations.

Sudhanshu also requested Media to not use the word Rapist until the court gives a verdict which he is sure will be in favor of Karan.
