OTT Is The Best Entertaining Platform Amid Lockdown Says Goldie Behl

Director, producer Goldie Behl who made his digital debut with ZEE5”s ‘RejctX’ last year deems that amid lockdown OTT is the most appropriate platform to keep people amused. Feeling happy for Shoojit and Anu, Goldie lend his full support for their films ‘Gulabo Sitabo’ and ‘Shakuntala Devi’ releasing on OTT platforms.

Goldie talking on the same said, “Absolutely it’s a good time to watch on OTT because this is the right time to catch up on the series which we have missed. I really feel wonderful that producers and directors are able to display their contents on OTT as the theatres have been shut. I am also feeling glad for Shoojit and Anu as their movies are coming up on digital space and they have my complete support. I am happy that they could do this because I can understand the kind of headache and stress the producer goes through after making a film. And as a filmmaker, the only criteria are to reach the audience as fast as they can. So, if OTT is the medium, I think it’s good.”

Sharing about his daily routine in the course of lockdown, Goldie said, “Since the lockdown has started, I was quite busy doing post-production work for ‘Rejctx 2’, so my entire lockdown went into that. And simultaneously I was also pitching other shows for other platforms. So, I have been really busy. Apart from this I am also doing meditation and walking to keep myself fit. I am also spending time with my son, trying to know him better, his likings, and penchants.”

About ‘Rejctx’, It is a crime web series on Zee5. The streaming platform is back with Rejctx season 2. The musical web series has grabbed the attention of viewers while keeping them quite curious with its twists and thrill. The release of RejectX Season 2 was announced before the commencement of the first season.

Goldie Behl Reveal the reason Behind doing Webseries ‘Rejctx’

Director, producer Goldie Behl who made his digital debut with ZEE5”s ‘RejctX’ last year revealed the reason behind in doing ‘Rejctx’. The director had a sneak peek into the lives of his son and his nephew, who are teenagers. It was their way of life that realized him that the standards of youth have changed from mid-2000 to mid-2019 to 2020. Apart from this he also shared the challenges he had to face while making ‘Rejctx 2’.

Squeezing out the reason behind in making the series, Goldie said, “I had done a series many years ago called ‘Remix’. When I was in my late 20’s. The series was immensely successful. It was released around mid of the year 2000. After 15 years I felt that there has been no show on teenagers. So, I realized that we should make a show or a series that sets trends and certain standards in teenage thrillers and young adults’ fiction. Though I am much older now, I have a son who is 14 and an 18-year-old nephew, so I have sneak peek in their life. From their life’s I realized that the youth have changed so much from mid-2000 to mid-2019 to 2020”

“So, it was a great time to re-visualize young trendy shows and talk about the new value system and morality. There is also one big difference between the Indian Kid is that they are now a global kid. That’s why we send them to multinational schools and send them abroad. Today our kids are equal to any international kids. This thought actually inspired me a lot. Also, about the web series, ‘Rejctx’ when we started there was not much music in the series. It was we who started the trend of putting music in the series. On a personal level, I do like music and musical shows. I am glad that we started the trend of lip sing songs in the web series” added director.

Goldie Behl Recalls The Time When RejctX2 Team Got Stuck In Thailand Due To Lockdown

Filmmaker Goldie Behl shares his some behind the scene incidents when the entire team of Rejctx2 got stuck in Thailand due to Covid-19 imposed lockdown.

Goldie Behl along with entire cast and crew were shooting in Thailand and Indian Government called for total lockdown, which cancelled all International flights and team was stranded overseas.

Sharing on the same, Goldie said, “There was no problem with shooting in Thailand. Actually, the problem was that India was shutting down the International flights from 22nd March and we still had a few portions left for the shoot. But I was really happy that my entire, my actor, technicians, and others stood shoulder to shoulder. We shot round the clock and in a nick of time got a flight back to India”

“In fact, the flights to Mumbai got cancelled so we had to catch a flight to Chennai to enter back again to our own country. But when I was shooting in Thailand in the month of February and most of March, I realized that this country is much quicker to handle this unfortunate disease, because they had already dealt it from the past. They had a protocol to use masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer”

“Even while shooting each person’s temperature used to be checked before entering the set. There was a little stress on the sets. We also organized a few vaccines for the entire unit while this was going out. The vaccine was to give extra immunity to the entire unit so that they don’t get common cold and flu. I am really lucky that we managed to come back on time in our country, otherwise we would have stuck abroad” said Goldie.

The second season stars Sumeet Vyas, Esha Gupta, Kubbra Sait, Anisha Victor, Ahmed Masi Wali and Ridhi Khakhar along with many others.

I Support Shoojit Sircar And Anu Menon Says Goldie Behl

Filmmaker Goldie Behl says that he support the decision of Shoojit Sircar and Anu Menon for releasing their films digitally.

Goldie expressed that OTT is the way now, and he fully support the decision of Shoojit Sircar, Anu Menon and more for releasing their movies on OTT as he understand their situation.

Talking about films like OTT platform blooming during lockdown and movies like ‘Gulabo Sitabo’ and ‘Shakuntala Devi’ heading for digital release, Goldie Behl said, “Absolutely it’s a good time to watch OTT because this is the right time to catch up on the series which we have missed. I really feel wonderful that producers and directors are able to display their contents on OTT as the theatres have been shut”

ZEE5’s web-series ‘RejctX’ revolves around a group of students of an elite school, and millennial issues like Gender fluidity, Body shaming, Personality disorder, and Porn Addiction, and music.
