5 Web Shows To Binge Watch During Lockdown

Looks like Corona Virus is going to keep us in our homes for a little longer as the government has extended the lockdown. With so much time in hand now, most of us have already binge watched everything worth watching on all the OTT platforms.

Don’t worry for now as we have brought a list of 5 new Indian web shows which will start streaming in the month of May.

RejctX 2 – Goldie Behl’e RejctX first season is being liked and appreciated by all. It is a fast paced thriller that revolves around the lives of the members of a music band. The members of the group express their angst and freedom through their band. The show has an ensemble cast comprising Summet Vyas, Kubbra Sait, Anisha Victor , Ahmed Masi Wali and Ridhi Khakhar. The show starts streaming from May 14 on ZEE5.

Paatal Lok – Anushka Sharma is entering the world of OTT platform through this series. The trailer of the show which was released on 5th May is currently being loved by everyone. It features Neeraj Kabi, Jaideep Ahlawat, Gul Panag and Abhishek Banerjee in pivotal roles. It is a crime drama which depicts the gruesome and brutal world of Paatal Lok that exists in our society. The show stars streaming fromMay 15 on Amazon Prime.

Illegal – Court Room Dramas are always a big hit amongst the audience and now Voot Select is coming up with another original court room drama Illegal. The web show features Neha Sharma, Piyush Mishra and Akshay Oberoi in lead roles. According to the description of the show, it will deal with a murder case that has been turned into a legal case. The show starts streaming from May 12 on Voot Select.

Betaal – After ‘Bard of Blood’, Red Chillies Entertainment is back with yet another gripping horror thriller ‘Betaal’. The show is a zombie drama which is directed by Patrick Graham who has previously directed Ghoul for Netflix. Show stars Aahana Kumra and Vineet Kumar in the lead roles. The show starts streaming from May 24 on Netflix.

Kaali 2 – Season 1 of Kaali kept the audience hooked to their seats and seaon 2 promises to be even bigger and better than the first one. Show stars Paoli Dam, Rahul Banerjee, Vidya Malvade and Chandan Roy Sanyal in important roles. It is crime thriller series which revolves around the life of a helpless mother who struggles to save her son. The show starts streaming from May 29 on ZEE5.

‘Never Kiss Your Best Friend’ – Is another series based on the bestselling novel of the same name. This series about best friends falling in love and being scared to admit it to each other, resonated with young Indians all over the country. This series has all the makings of teenage friendships like fooling each other’s parents and running a check on each other’s partners.

‘Life Sahi Hai’ – Comes from the makers of Pyaar Ka Punchnama. This series follows the life of four bachelor roommates to come to Delhi to live independently but face problems in every aspect of life. The first season of this series stars Siddhanth Chaturvedi of ‘Gully Boy’ fame as well.

ZEE5 announces eight new book adaptations

On the occasion of World Book Day on April 23, OTT platform ZEE5 announced eight new book adaptations.

The news was announced on Tuesday via a statement. It comes after the success of book adaptations like “The Final Call” based on Priya Kumar’s book “I Will Go With You – The Flight of a Lifetime” and “Parchhayee – Ghost stories by Ruskin Bond”.

The rights for the books — “The Wise Man Said” by Priya Kumar, “Hutatma” by Meena Deshpande, “Skyfire” by Aroon Raman, Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay’s historical novels — “Tungabhadrar Teere” and “Kaler Mandira”, “Mission to Pakistan” by late Maloy Krishna Dhar, “Karkatkranti” by Indranil Sanyal and “Seven Days Without You” by Anmol Rana have been procured.

The content from each of them is in different phases of production.

“The digital medium has opened new avenues not only for content producers but also for authors who can now bring their story alive on celluloid. We have an interesting line-up of content, a major chunk of which is through book adaptations,” said Aparna Achrekar, Programming Head at ZEE5 India

Check Out Lakshmi Manchu in Mrs Subbalakshmi from ZEE5

Lakshmi Manchu starring Mrs Subbalakshmi, a new web-series from the house of ZEE5 originals is out with its first trailer. This marks the Manchu’s debut on the digital platform.
The official handle of ZEE5 dropped the trailer on social media. They captioned it, “This is just the beginning of a hilarious ride with Manchu Lakshmi in and as Mrs. Subbalakshmi. Watch her exciting journey, premiering on March 8 on #ZEE5. @LakshmiManchu @AvasaralaSrini  @MaheshVitta #comedianVenuTillu @ZEE5Telugu #MrsSubbalakshmiOnZEE5”
Mrs Subbalakshmi is on a hilarious journey where she escapes from her workaholic husband but lands in the middle of a diamond heist. It also stars Srinivas Avasarala and Adrus Raghu. The series is written by Balabhadrapatruni Ramani, it is directed by Vamsi.
Lakshmi Manchu, daughter of veteran Tollywood actor Mohan Babu, made her acting debut with the American television series Las Vegas, where she played the role of Sarasvati Kumar. She has starred in one episode of each of the series – Desperate Housewives, Late Nights with my Lover and Mystery ER. She has also appeared in commercials for Toyota, AARP and Chevrolet.
She also starred in the Tamil remake of the hit Bollywood flick Tumhaari Sulu where Jyothika reprised the role done by Vidya Balan.
Lakshmi Manchu played the role of Neha Dhupia who played the head of a radio station in the original version.
