The first ever original film of HBO Max ‘An American Pickle’ starring Seth Rogen trailer got released yesterday. The film is a comedy film set to make its premiere on the platform on 6th August.
The story revolves around Rogen playing Herschel Greenbaum, a Polish ditch digger who wants to fulfill his American dream and therefore immigrates to the US in 1920. Here he finds work at a pickle factory where accidentally he falls into a vat of brine and gets preserved for 100 years.
He emerges out of the brine after 100 years in 1920 to be with Ben, his great grandson, his only remaining relative- who is also played by Rogen. The two of them find it difficult to relate to each other as Herschel’s goals in life do not meets with Ben’s goals.
The film which is a tale of two generations coming together is based on Simon Rich’s short story, “Sell Out,” which was published in The New Yorker in 2013. Brandon Trost directs the comedy which also features Sarah Snook, Sean Whalen, Jorma Taccone, Joanna Adler, Jeff Daniel Philips, Geoffrey Cantor, David Mattey, Charles Rogers and Kevin O’Rourke.
“An American Pickle” will premiere on HBO Max on 6th August, 2020.
