Ace sprinter Dutee Chand had recently broken news that she is in a same-sex relationship. Thus becoming India’s first ever medal winning gay athlete. Now, she is facing a backlash from her family, especially her sister, who is allegedly threatening to send the athlete to jail over her sexual orientation but Indian film fraternity is nothing but support for the runner.
Actor Siddharth shared on his social media, “You be you #DuteeChand. It takes incredible strength to stand where you do today. You are a champion on the tracks and off. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Stay blessed. You inspire all of us. #LGBTQ #loveConquers”
Outspoken Twinkle Khanna also shared her support. She tweeted, “She is a winner all the way! #DuteeChand”
South actress Lakshmi Manchu also voiced her support. She wrote, “Let love be celebrated not dismissed…I shower support for #DuteeChand coming out in the public cos we need more women talking & making it a safer place for gay ppl. I’d love to host her & her girlfriend if they ever come to Hyd for a fabulous meal here. More power to u girl!”
