Actor Gajraj Rao, known for his roles in Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan and Badhaai Ho, spoke about companies and businesses having to let go of employees and workers. He says, “The lockdown is affecting all sections of our society and on humanitarian grounds, I humbly request employers especially in large corporations, to try and not let go of their employees. These are extraordinary circumstances where I feel we need to help each other in order to survive this ordeal in whatever manner possible.”

Rao feels that the worst hit sections of the population need all the help and support possible to be able to fight this pandemic. Several celebrities and influencers are too rising up to the occasion and contributing to the relief work in their individual capacity. Speaking about the importance of these efforts, he says, “We have been helping in arranging ration and other basic facilities for our housing society staff. They work round the clock through the year to help us in our everyday routine, and it’s time we helped them back. I strongly believe that this is not a favour we are doing to them, but the right thing that needs to be done.”

Apart from this, Rao also spoke about the commendable work being done by a few organizations which he has been associated with. One of them is #LetsFeedTogether, an initiative of the Delhi-based multinational company Compass Group which is headed by his friend, Dev Amritesh. The project has fed over 25 lakh meals to the underprivileged across several cities in India. Filmmaker Amit Sharma, who directed him in the film Badhaai Ho, has been contributing towards relief work through his organization, Phool Varsha Foundation. “I urge everyone to support these initiatives in any and every way to ensure that these efforts continue and reach out to as many needy people as possible”, he adds.

Gajraj Rao will be next seen in the upcoming sports drama Maidaan, starring Ajay Devgn. The film is based on the life of Syed Abdul Rahim, who was the Indian national football team’s coach and manager.
