Girlfriend Chor currently streaming on MX Player series is a rom-com which is an easy smooth watch. The USP of the show is its brevity as the show is confined to just five episodes. Director Girish Jotwani who is the writer of the show as well spoke to us at length about the show, its casting and more.
Talking about the idea of the show, he said, “The idea was mine. Initially there was an idea where a dad asks his son why do you like such girls who already have boyfriends? It started with, when someone asked this line in real life and this line stayed with me. Then I started developing this idea and the characters of Aakash, his mother and his father came in. Then the character of Ritu, the other girl, when that came in, post that it felt that the story is ready.”
Casting of the show is super liked by the audience specially the role of the father played by Shishir Sharma. He has stolen the hearts of the audience with his impressive performance.
Girish, who worked extensively on the casting talked about it and said, “We had a full process of casting. Shishir Sharma was our first choice. I really liked his sense of humour. Post that I met Sonali Sachdev, who plays the role of the mother. Mayur More and Diksha Juneja who portrayed Aakash and Ritu respectively are wonderful actors. We spent a lot of time on casting and we were clear about how to approach further.”
Girlfriend Chor is a story of a college boy Aakash who gets friend-zoned by uber cool Neha. His father Mohan then intervenes in his life with a mission to make him a girl friend chor.
Directed by Girish Jotwani, starring Shishir Sharma, Mayur More, Sonali Sachdev, Diksha Juneja and Himani Sharma, the show is currently streaming on MX Player.
