The wait is over, the powerful and gripping trailer of The Tashkent Files is here and this one has all the right elements and intriguing narrative!
“The Tashkent Files”, a film which revolves around the mysterious death of Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, is all set to be released in the midst of the Lok Sabha polls.
The film is written and directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, who dropped the trailer on social media. He captioned it, “The wait is over. The official trailer is here. The Tashkent Files | Official Trailer | Vivek Agnihotri | Releasing 12th April”
The film stars an incredible ensemble of Mithun Chakraborty, Naseeruddin Shah, Shweta Basu Prasad, Pallavi Joshi, Pankaj Tripathi, Rajesh Sharma, Mandira Bedi, Prakash Belawadi, Vishwa Mohan Badola, Prashantt Gupta and Vinay Pathak.
The film is a fictional representation of the functioning of an enquiry committee that probes into the death of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. He was the second Prime Minister of Independent India and died under mysterious circumstances in January 1966 in Tashkent (now in Uzbekistan), a day after signing the Tashkent Agreement, which formally ended the Indo-Pakistan war of 1965.
The trailer begins with Shweta Basu Prasad receiving a pen drive, which appears to have classified information crucial to Lal Bahadur Shastri’s mysterious death. As she begins her hunt for the truth, the trailer is interspersed with speculative suggestions that point towards one thing – Mr Shastri’s death is one of India’s biggest political cover-up.
The film is an addition to the long list of political movies set to be released ahead on the Lok Sabha polls this year after “Uri: The Surgical Strike”, “The Accidental Prime Minister” and “Thackeray”. It will be followed up with “PM Narendra Modi”.
The film hits the cinema halls on 12th April 2019.
